Hi — I’m Camille. If you’re curious about Camille’s Comforting Cuisine, you’re in the right place.

I’m the Jamaican-American home cook, Army veteran, and busy working mom behind Camille’s Comforting Cuisine — a veteran owned food blog filled with comforting flavors, cultural stories, and the kind of meals you can rely on even when life is loud, messy, or just plain overwhelming.
I grew up between Jamaica and Fort Lauderdale, surrounded by the smells of curry chicken, escovitch fish, and Sunday dinners that stretched long into the night. Food has always been my connection to family, heritage, and home — even when life pulled me far from both. From military chow halls to long workdays to single-mom evenings with a toddler glued to my hip, the one thing I could always count on was a meal. Food grounded me, restored me, and reminded me who I was.
That’s why Camilles Comforting Cuisine exists. This is my veteran owned Jamaican-American food blog, my comfort corner, and my way of sharing the flavors that helped me find myself again.
About Camille
I go by Camille Chenelle, the same name I use on my YouTube channel Camille Chenelle where I share natural-hair and beauty content. What most people don’t know is that even back then, food kept sneaking into my videos—little clips of cooking, quick snapshots of dinner, or a nostalgic moment stirred up by a recipe. I didn’t realize it at the time, but my kitchen was quietly becoming my safe place.

Motherhood only made that truth louder. When life shifted and my identity felt blurry, cooking became the thing that anchored me back to myself. Every recipe you see on my blog was born from that season — the rebuilding, the rediscovering, the healing, the comforting. And now I’m sharing those flavors with you.
If you want more of the real story — the emotional, messy, funny, honest parts — you’ll find it in Cooking Chronicles, where I write about the personal moments behind the recipes.
You can also read how it all began in my post: The Beginning of Camille’s Comforting Cuisine.

Camilles Comforting Cuisine FAQ
I was in the United States Army
Its very random. I think its because sometimes I’m watching TV while hungry and they start talking about food.
Hands down, the stove top curry chicken. Even my daughter loves this one and its truly one I make at least 3 times a month. All jokes aside. This is one of the recipes thats “in my hands” as my grandmother says.
